Pedro Plaza

Nobody knows our dancefloor better than Pedro Plaza, who also happens to be the founder of Banana Club.

“I started playing records at the same time we were conceiving the idea of Banana as a small club, and the reason was basically because there was, literally, no one else to do it. After that, I grew to embrace the job and love all that comes with it, specially the hours of music.

What was a challenge in the beginning has come to be the part I enjoy the most of all the work I do in Banana Club. I really have a good time reading the crowd and translating that into the music I play, trying to play a little something for everyone. When choosing what to play, I always consider very important to ask myself: what tune would make me go crazy if I was partying with everyone down there?

At the end of the day, that’s a little bit of the spirit me and my fellow residents have in Banana Club: even though we all have preferences (mine is electronic and urban music), we don’t close our minds and deny any genres, anything goes, as long as it pulls out some great moves from the crowd.”
